lululalaland
So i am really interested in working with db files since i downloaded barncastle´s wdbx editor and i really want to change some attack animations of my paladin but i just cant seem to find the right db file.... I mean i tried changing the special attack 2h in AnimationData, but unfortunatly without any success. Perhaps im digging in the wrong hole ^^
Amaroth
Well, first of all, I'm quite sure that animations are bound to models (so in this case human male, orc female... and so on). So if you want to edit something just on paladin, it most likely won't really be possible as long as your paladin will use general (some race) (some gender) model. You btw haven't mentioned which expansion you are working on. Assuming you are on WotLK (because if that isn't the case, I can't help you whatsoever). https://wowdev.wiki/DB/AnimationData This DBC seems to define only some parameters for animations model can have. It doesn't really set which animations are being used for which tasks. What you want to edit can't be found in DBCs anyway. Animations are part of model - you need to edit model itself in a 3D editor. There aren't many people who can edit animations of models in WoW. What is commonly done (even with full custom models) is actually just "copying" already finished animations from blizzlike models. The only guy around I think might be able to at least somewhat help you is @Vellear and I'm not entirely sure if what you want is even possible. You also haven't mentioned if you want to just replace an animation by some existing one (on character model or on different model) or if you want to create your own, fully custom. Some of options I've mentioned may be actually (hopefully) possible, some probably not. Still, knowledge beyond beginner's skills will be needed. I may be actually a little bit wrong and thing you want to do might be doable just by using a 010 editor and M2 template. In such case, I can't help you with that as I have only really a very basic knowledge of performing such tasks. English YT tutorial channel. wungasaurus
While I don't know which DB it actually is, • animationdata is mostly useless and most edits don't do shit • you want to change how an animation looks: tough luck, have fun with broken m2 converters and a lot of pain. • if you want to change the animation played on a spell, you want to look at the terms animkit, spellvisual. Iirc spell references visual references precast animkit
Amaroth
Ah, Schlumpf had actually a good idea I've missed before (because, this is exactly the cause when I can't find out what the actual fluff is exactly the thing you want). So, once again. Game build you are working on, and what do you want to actually achieve. Create a new animation? Use some already existing animation? Change animation only for certain class or for race or... what...? Change auto attack animation, animation for certain spell(s)? Change some exact animation for all spells? Give us as big amount of information you can, we can't work with currently provided information at all. English YT tutorial channel. lululalaland
Alright. So the expansion is Legion ... i know ugh db2 files... but ill find out what to edit with wowdev.wiki so there is that. Now about the animation: Its the templars verdict animation im looking for and yes i would like to change it to another special attack 2h animation like crusader strike or the pre legion version pirouette (those are still in the game). I tried to find out which are actually still in the game by using tmorph. As it is now i was able to change "spells" with SpellVisualEffectName.db2 (just an example to show you that i know that editing db2 files works). Basically what I would like to find out is which db file contains attack animations or it would be a big help if someone could actually tell me how to find out the location of specific animation data files so that i may just change the names of the files and be done with it. Id be happy either way... changing the db file(s) or swapping the animation files of whichever race since they look something like HumanMale_HD0066-00.anim or BloodElfMale_HD0066-00.anim. I see that the numbers are the same ... but i dont know which animation that is since i cant seem to identify it. I hope that you understand now what i meant. wungasaurus
SpellVisualAnim*? swapping .anim will swap all occurrences, so unlikely what you want. The ids in filenames are animid as in AnimationData, and if the model has multiple versions of that the second number is the variation id. Swapping between models will fuck things up. Did investigating that not result in something? unfortunatly not ... i did change some ids of spells which i found in spellvisualanim with the help of spell.db2. For example i equaled the numbers for Templar´s Verdict and the old version of the spell (yes i found both variations) and yet no change... then i tried changing it to mortal strike or crusader strike yet without any success... so thats probably not the file i am (or we ?) are looking for
lululalaland
Ok folks. A little update: After consulting with Razmataz I was able to change spell animations back pre wod. For example: Templars Verdict ---> pre Legion spin The db file we were looking for is SpellXSpellvisual.db2 The problem was opening the file with the wdbx editor. To see how to open it read here: www.model-changing.net/forums/topic/430-solved-wod-spellvisualmissile/ PS: thx again to Razmataz. Really ty mate
